There is also a C++11 way to do timings which should work on windows:

#include "chrono"
using namespace std::chrono;
auto starttime = high_resolution_clock::now();
auto endtime = high_resolution_clock::now();
double timing = duration_cast<duration<double>>(endtime - starttime).count()
