No, this patch has been in the HG-sources before the evaluator merge (I
did save a copy just before that merge)!
The patch is still very good, very needed and nobody suggested a
workable alternative.
If nobody comes up with an alternative, please re-merge it ASAP.
Or did you want to say that the patch is not merge-able (locally, at
your copy) anymore?
