Yes, but I think it just needs a digit appended to some function. I
tested with whatever version is in debian before committing and also had
it working in OSX (with whatever ffmpeg is in macports) and Windows (I
think there's some semi-official binaries I used there).

Yes, myself I'd actually prefer to just use theora now. It uses 50% more
disk space but it really shouldn't matter all that much. Once we're
close to releasing 5.2 we can still decide what to do. Hopefully by then
there will be a theora backend. And I also want to figure out a way to
have this work together with audio streams somehow. (Ideally the audio
part of a video would just use our existing audio streaming. Just need
to add synching capabilities to the audio streaming then.)
