That's what we're talking about...
The xdg program I wrote uses al_fopen("/blah/user-dirs.dirs", "r") to
locate the system paths. Sebastian's point was that could fail
unexpectedly if you previously set up a VFS. No one is suggesting that
the path returned should automatically be fed through stdio on future
I/O calls.
