I was thinking about the parts which allowed loading bitmap font from archaic formats (BIOS and GRX and from that Allegro font script file format).
But my question was really just to make sure that I wouldn't unnecessarily do any redundant work that someone else might already have done/started.
I personally don't need any of those old font functions (except for the embedded font).

I understand your concerns about feature freeze/feature creep.
Meanwhile, I have already moved on and implemented the function "al_create_builtin_8x8_bitmap_font", because I needed that for my current project.

Feel free to include it with A5 or any later branch if you want to. 
I'd be happy if it would make it into the next release but if it won't, I understand.
