A couple of related things that I keep forgetting about:
The memfile addon currently only supports a fixed buffer size, which is
a bit deficient. (Also the implementation doesn't support ungetc.)
I think we were agreed on the al_fopen_slice function. IIRC at least
one version of it would make the memfile addon redundant. Matthew, do
you want me to finish it off?
