Gain control yes, that's easy. Panning is impossible to do with ALSA and OSS.
If we support gain controls on voices, each voice would need an
intermediate buffer (if it doesn't already), so I think we shouldn't
do that.
What buffer? No. Gain control of the voice is something that used to be called
"hardware volume setting" in A4. In alsa that's controlling PCM volume slide in
alsamixer. In OSS4 that's setting the PCM volume for the specific voice...
OpenAL must have some sort of volume control too.
