Hello Roger! I hope you stick with Allegro!

I think Roger's perception, that Allegro is old fashioned and
therefore slow and/or deficient in some way, is a common one. This is
unfortunate.

I don't have any data to suggest that using 'older' DirectX interfaces
is inherently slower; after all, it's part of the COM design to
support versioned interfaces. I imagine that they all end up calling
the same code at the driver level. Has anyone done any benchmarking on
this?

ps. "EvertG," I love that jharbour.com thread. I can confirm that
failing to return a value from main will lock up Linux every time...
