There is one thing, or rather two things, that I think may be important.
Both have to do with bugs Thomas Harte reported under MacOS X: one having
to do with detection of gamepads, one having to do with 8 bit colour
modes. I think Peter (Hull) had a fix for the first one, but I don't know
about the second one. Do we want to have these fixed before release? Or do
we note them down as `known issues' and push the fix into 4.2.1?
Peter?
Hi, sorry I've been on holiday all week. To summarize:
Gamepads: The issue was about decoding the output from the Mac's HID
Manager into Allegro's joystick/stick/axis/button scheme. I have a fix
that now works with my own gamepad, Thomas's set-up and some trial
configurations that I invented. Thomas has a rather unusual
configuration (IMHO) 2 (different) Playstation gamepads connected to a
dongle, and the current Allegro code reads it as one device with 4
sticks and 32 buttons. I will tidy up the code and post the patch; if
anyone else finds a problem, then it can go into 4.2.1
8-bit: The video card on my system won't support 8 bit modes at all, so
I can only have a look at the code and see if there's anything wrong.
Note the problem apparently only occurs if the system is set to 8-bit,
not just using Allegro's (default) 8-bit mode. This must be pretty rare
in practice. For reference here is the link:

Also, is this one (pivot_sprite, turned out to be something to do with
the fixed point arithmetic) fixed:

I think the best thing is if we agree what on the TODO is for 4.2.0 and
what is for later.
