works OK here (vc6, vc7.1, mingw)

the linking of the example however fails, because
obj/msvc/runner.exe D:/PROGRA~1/MICROS~1.NET/VC7/bin/link @ -nologo 
-release -LTCG -subsystem:windows
is missing some things, like e.g. input filename :-))))
