Please send a patch and we'll incorporate it, or otherwise point out the
preferred way to do it. To my knowledge, none of us are autoconf experts.

PS. While I agree with your reasons for setting --disable-asm, it will
produce a library that is not ABI-compatible with a "standard"
configuration of Allegro on x86. I don't know if there are enough
binary-only linux programs for that to matter.
