although it would be ideal for grabber or those level editors etc., 
there is actually very low demand for this feature

also many people see allegro as a strictly game oriented library and 
IIRC there was always dislike to add non game features (resizable 
window, clipboard support...) to make it generic multimedia library

the allegro also isn't prepared for this so it was always something like 
 "maybe in a5" because it's too hard to implement
