I'm all for having new features as long as backwards compatibility is not
broken.

We just have to be careful to emphasize greatly not to improperly use an
"install shield" program that just overwrites the (newer) Allegro DLL.
Intelligent install programs automatically check for DLL versioning issues.
On the other hand, if a person does not use an install program, but keeps
the DLL packaged in the games' folder, that would be OK too.
