So, if -o is not specified, then write to stdout? Also, should I add an
option to support encrypted datafiles, much like -007 in dat2s?

Yes, it will be a simple cut + paste job, since there is only one header
file and two source files. Also I wrote a nice utility to convert to
Allegro tab format :-)
Eventually, it may make sense to move the core code into 'datedit.c' et.
al., allowing us to refactor the code so that (for example) exporting a
header file is done in one place and shared between grabber, dat, dat2s
and dat2c.

In allegro/tools/grabber.txt, under the section 'Compiling Datafiles',
in plain text. This seems to make sense since that is where dat2s is
documented.
I'll prepare a patch for everything within the next few days, assuming
there are no major issues.
