Well, I could do it, if deemed OK, since it would replace
the patch I sent earlier. It's just that it seemed a bad
way to do it, and I was hoping for a good idea to make it
better. Function pointers wouldn't solve everything.
Eric, Peter: Would such a patch interest you ?
