the "g" flag, according to the sed info page:

    `g'
          Apply the replacement to *all* matches to the REGEXP, not
          just the first.

so the 'g' i think might be needed. i haven't used sed a lot so i don't know 
for sure. the patch you supplied didn't help FYI. all i get is:
sed: -e expression #1, char 7: Unterminated `s' command
i use gnu sed 3.02.
