It seems Vincent is right...

The DIGMID driver doesn't work when the text encoding format is 16-bit
Unicode (for example in the setup program), simply because it wasn't fully
converted: it looks like someone believed that pack_fgets() returns ASCII
strings.

The attached patch was already commited.
