DGA2 is for root only. DGA1 too.

This symptom is when you display a 8bpp picture in a 16bpp mode. The
nvidia drivers had such a bug a while back. The XFree version does not
have the bug.

I don't have this problem... 8bpp works fine, and the mouse too for
normal users.

I have similar problems but not reproduceable at will : sometimes events
go very slow when in a windowed mode... But quiting the program and
running it again fixes the problem, so I don't know...
