Ok, here's another try: now the visual actions are kept exactly the same
for every version. Framebuffer users will use the actual resolution, until
they have to select the video mode, which will be forced to 8bpp. The
error message should explain it clearly for the unlucky vesafb users who
are on anything different than 8bpp.
