Oh a file has appeared now, but only for one of the sources:
# ls -lh /var/lib/chrony
total 8.0K
-rw------- 1 root root 1.8K Oct 3 12:34 2606:4700:f1::1.nts
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 42 Oct 3 12:34 drift
