and which one ends in 7 days - only the FSF host?

ok - for tank I can see, that the server is most of the time idle, but there is no Ram usage

Hi,

The SliTaz network is based on 6 servers.

1) Tank (hosted by FSF, see http://tank.slitaz.org/) for
- a vhost who mainly needs CPU and storage
  http://bb.slitaz.org/
- some vhosts who mainly need bandwidth
  http://boot.slitaz.org
  http://doc.slitaz.org
  http://hg.slitaz.org/ and http://repos.slitaz.org/
  http://people.slitaz.org/
  http://pkgs.slitaz.org/
  http://pro.slitaz.org/
  http://scn.slitaz.org/
  http://www.slitaz.org/

2) Forum (hosted by erjo) for
  http://forum.slitaz.org/
  http://labs.slitaz.org/

3) Mirror (hosted by bellard, see http://mirror.slitaz.org/info/) for
  http://ajaxterm.slitaz.org/
  http://mirror.slitaz.org/
  http://pizza.slitaz.org/

4) gandi for http://webmail.slitaz.org/

5) tuxfamily for the mailing list

6) daily backups hosted by bellard : rsync://94.23.209.91/

Mirror already host some tank read only replicas, see
http://mirror.slitaz.org/info/#replicas
  http://mirror.slitaz.org/www/
  http://mirror.slitaz.org/doc/
  http://mirror.slitaz.org/pkgs/
  http://mirror.slitaz.org/hg/
  http://mirror.slitaz.org/webboot/

Should we move every tank bandwidth hangry vhost to mirror ?

I think we have to split things:

1) there is the need for I would call it the public server:

website, iso-download, repo, slitaz mails and forum

thats stupid to do at home, because the price for (upload)bandwidth is
much higher than the prices for virtual servers with unlimited bandwidth

like: http://colorhost.de/server/vserver/ that one for 6,99€ a month

perhaps this we could also get for free like perhaps from 6sync.com

2) there is the server, which cooks slitaz packages

this does not need much bandwidth and could stand at somebodys home with
an A-Record on slitaz.org

is this assumtion correct?

I can't afford 6CHF at the moment - any possible benefits for
'half-sponsors'? ;)

Fully proofread English:

SliTaz Appeal Fund
==================

We know it's probably not the right time of year to be doing this
(so soon after Christmas), but SliTaz urgently needs funds to buy
its own server. Our contract with FSF expires in 8 days' time and
we will be left without a host. If anyone can spare a few Euros,
we can purchase and administer our own server to give us
more freedom to continue to provide SliTaz. We would greatly
appreciate it! Please note that the current demands for Tank
amount to 60 CHF a month, so every little bit helps.

Sponsor SliTaz
==============

If you can afford to contribute just 6 CHF a month, you can also
become an official sponsor for SliTaz and receive additional
benefits and support* (we only need 10 people to sponsor us to be able
to pay for tank each month).

* I don't even know what these are yet :)

How much is this in Euro?

http://www.google.com/search?q=6CHF+in+EUR
about 4,60 EUR at current exchange rates.

Donators list on the homepage.

Maybe you should sell Live-CDs for a little bit more then the CD
cost+shipping, to cross finance the servers.

I would buy a CD for around 8€ (10€ is my maximum), if the case and
print on the CD looks professional.

And maybe you sell hardware too. I had a hardware shop in mind, were
you sell hardware that work 100% out-of-the-box with Slitaz. (You make
sure the hardware in the shop does. May it by selecting the "right"
hardware. May it by making/modifying the system.)

Creat initiative Paul! In all case we need a found raising. Tank
use
electricity and bandwitch is not free, I also have a fixe IP for
20
CHF
by mounth.

Maybe modify the text below and try to explain we need something
like
60 CHF by mounth to handle Tank needs. It could be 10 personn
giving
6
franc each mounth ot whatever!

Paul

@christophe: how much do we realistically need to raise?
