How did you found about vhffsfssync ? :-) It's quite much buried inside 
the VHFFS source tree and without public advertising of any sort.

Is the process starting at all ? What does the following say ?

$ mkdir /tmp/test
$ /usr/bin/vhffsfssync_master -f --pidfile /tmp/test.pid -p 6666 /tmp/test
