I'm sure with you it's completely the other way around: editing of grub.cfg manually on an installed system with the nano editor will result in an unbootable system due to some signature error. It's very lucky for me since I kept a backup version of grub.cfg. The only thing could make this system boot again is to go to NuTyX live and replace grub.cfg with grub.cfg.bak I created earlier.
We could agree with each others about grub-mkconfig shouldn't be used, though.

NuTyX doesn't support / need the use of grub-mkconfig.
By editing the grub.cfg file you should be able to boot without any isue.
You can also install grub separately ( on a dedicate partition or not ) http://nutyx.org/en/grub-install
