NuTyX 9.0-RC1 available with cards 2.2
The NuTyX team is please to annonce the first release candidate of the
almost stable (RC1) NuTyX 9.0.
NuTyX 9.0-RC1 comes with kernel 4.10.6, kernel lts 4.9.16, glibc 2.25,
gcc 6.3.0, binutils 2.28, python 3.6.0, xorg-server 1.19.2, qt 5.8.0,
plasma 5.9.4, kf5 5.31.0, gnome 3.22.2, mate 1.16.1, xfce4 4.12.3,
firefox 52.0.1, etc....
More then 2500 commits since the 8.2 version.
New Isos are available in 32 and 64 bits. There sizes are respectively
about 246 MB and 247 MB. on http://downloads.nutyx.org
The available graphical interface are: kde5, gnome, mate, xfce4, lxde,
flwm, jwm, ratpoison, blackbox, openbox, twm, etc.
Major update of NuTyX
This new version is the result of more then 6 month of work. Updating
from 8.2.1 version is maybe possible, but risky. NuTyX recomnmand you
to make a new installation.
ISOs news
The new ISOs can be launch on UEFI machines If you have a uefi
compatible computer, you can now install NuTyX in uefi mode. It it's
your case, the installer will guide the user to make the right
chooices during installation and the uefi will take care of booting
the machine, no other boot manager are needed by default. Up to the
enduser to decide or not for choosing one if needed.
ISO can be loaded 100 % in ram memory if the target computer have more
then 1 Gbyte of RAM. The USB key can then be disconnected and then
make the single USB port available free. Usefull when you want to
install NuTyX on tablets having one single USB port.
New LTS kernel
The kernel long term support is now shift from the 4.4 to the 4.9 version.
No more default initrd
The initrd has become obsolet, it's no need to specify it into the
grub boot configuration file. NuTyX reconized Files Systems are now
compiled into the kernel.
Main components of the toolchain are now up to date.
Main components of the toolchain that are kernel-header, compiler,
linker, assembler and C library are now up to date. Respective version
of each element are availables in the list below.
Base-extra collection removed
The base-extra collection is now into the base collection integrated.
Number of officials collections is now 13:

cli, cli-extra
gui, gui-extra
xfce4, xfce4-extra
mate, mate-extra
gnome, gnome-extra
kde5, kde5-extra
Renaming and Splitting
Renaming of python3 in python, the split of qt5 and the latest updates
had big impacts on all the packages. As a result, the NuTyX team
decides to recompile ALL the packages for this new version.

qt5 -> qt
fltk1 -> fltk
xorg-mesa -> mesa
Cards 2.2
It's a major updated version of cards. This 2.2 version have a
completed french version. NuTyX team welcomes news translators.
Cards shows more results when searching for packages. If the found
package is already install, it will be printed in green in the result.
