sorry, re-post.
it was pointed out that i just hit reply to any post, changed subject and content, and posted it is as a new post. Looks like the headers contain info on threads---so my practice messes with threading at the mailinglist. So here is a repost of an earlier mess-up on my part.

replacing "xterm" with "mrxvt" in "boot-log.desktop" doesn't work ...
anybody knows anything about it?
in general, mrxvt is having trouble taking commands like "mrxvt -e <command> <arguments>" if <argments> is non-empty. ( with or without quotes or double quotes around <command><arguments> )
any pointers, suggestions ? (pointing boot-log.desktop to a script does *not* work)
