I have the same problem on the EeePC. I guess that's a limitation of Xvesa/drivers.

I understand you don't want to be bugged about the screen resolution each time you boot - but if you're generating a new filesystem, it might be for distribution - in which case, you don't want the screen resolution already set?

Xvesa limitations... try: 'Xvesa -listmodes' to see all supported screen
size on the current card. If some screen resolutions are missing in
tazx, just let me know.

/etc/screen.conf exist to avoid tazx being executed on each boot, the
used screen size is set in /etc/slim.conf (Tazx automaticly configue
Slim).
