And 1.4.0 build too. Looks like i was lucky, having emul-linux-x86-gtklibs
installed. May be add it to deps?

some existing ebuilds.

Well, that is the double maintenance I want to avoid. The emul-linux-x86 packages are about to be replaced by native multilib support introduced by the multilib eclasses. When the gtk libraries have been migrated it is as easy as depending on USE="${MULTILIB_USEDEP}" in dependency.

The multilib eclasses will provide the necessary USE flags for the different ABIs to build for, so you don't need to manually add a 32bit or 64bit USE flag. The only thing here is that the supplied build system is very non-standard and will need some work (in either the Makefile or the ebuild).
