It's not only a Gentoo issue. It's troubling OpenBSD users as well. I even
found a Debian user with the same problem, but still the only solution
seems to be sticking to stable versions for the time being.
(Still: I hope I'm wrong about the whole thing.)

Hi Matt.<br><br>Are you using cyrus-sasl package version 2.1.25? It seems t=
o break something in the authorization mechanism. The generic failure is so=
me voodoo from one of the developer, who was to lazy to implement the outpu=
t message the right way. ;)<br>
<br>If you're downgrading SVN to 1.6 then maybe you should also try dow=
ngrading cyrus-sasl to 2.1.23-r4 (latest stable).<br>From what I read it se=
ems that subversion 1.7 would have problems with cyrus-sasl 2.1.23 and vice=
versa: svn 1.6 won't go with cyrus-sasl 2.1.15. It a really odd issue =
over here and there is a chance that I read something wrong, so I'm pas=
