When I emerge ardour I get this error about a missing dependancy:
Checking for libgnomecanvas-2.0... no
libgnomecanvas-2.0 >= 2.0 not found.
You do not have the necessary dependencies required to build ardour

Looks like you need to add >=gnome-base/libgnomecanvas-2.0 to the
dependancies
