Wow, I missed this post. 
After hitting this compile error on lmms SVN for ages, I went out and
asked the devs. Fixed in current revision.

For now we still have to USE="debug -surround -qt4 qt3"  
in order to compile it. So debugging enabled, surround disabled and
qt3 interface. That will be fixed in later revisions.
