Actually, the PowerPC port was developped by Tristan. I don't know the 
context of this implementation, I'm quite sure he can provide additional 
information. As far as I understood, the console was not implemented 
directly using QEMU and was likely redirected through the standard 
output. The best way to get this kind of information is to let Tristan 
answers or contact him directly in case he missed this mail !
