I think the old way: send a diff file and use patch later on

I just double-checked the settings at Framagit, and merge requests are
enabled, so it should work.

You wrote that you tried to do a pull request "by email" ... how does that
work? I only know the way where you push to your forked repository and then
select to open a merge request from there ... have you tried to do that
already?
