I think SCSI-1-CCS works the same regarding the allocation length as SCSI-2
(or newer).
Linux on the Atari definitely works fine with SCSI-2 drives. I still have a
working old Debian release with kernel 2.0.36, and I have never used
anything else than SCSI-2 drives (real and emulated) with it.
The same applies for TOS. Since 1990 I have almost exclusively used SCSI-2
drives with both SCSI and ACSI, the latter with ICD compatible adapters.
