In case you implement this, one should still be able to override (toggle)
this setting with the usual keyboard shortcut for enabling/disabling
fast-forward mode.

I assume fast-forward shortcut use should just temporarily change the setting (until next pexec/pterm), instead of completely disabling that automation?
