Write protect could be a host operating system permission,
or a hatari dialog selection, or a TOS permission.

To format a floppy; which creates a disk image that can be written to a
real floppy with mtools (or similar software).
http://hatari.tuxfamily.org/doc/manual.html#The_Floppy_Disks_Dialog
see: Create new blank image

When someone asks how to format a floppy with an emulator, my mind
goes straight to the real hardware, then I halt with a double bus fault.

Maybe the manual should have a few sentences on how to format a floppy
on an Atari ST versus an Emulator (for those that think pure Atari ST).
