I don't ever do make install, but I'm assuming this is because /usr/local isn't use writeable in macOS. I.e, sudo make install would work.

The Apple solution is to put all third party stuff under /opt

Hatari is created and I always get error:

  file INSTALL cannot copy file

  "/usr/local/share/doc/hatari/authors.txt".

Is it possible to suppress this ?
