-march=native was introduced in GCC 4.2, but I'm using GCC 4.1
However, I 'am' compiling for my particular CPU (pentium3).

Compiling for speed on the native cpu, and stripping the binaries
makes for a speedier experience on my computer. I also boot
the linux kernel with divider=2 because CentOS 5 uses 1000
interrupts per second, and I find it is better to service them at
half that rate.
