[Actux] Bilan du Breizh Entropy Congress

Bilan du Breizh Entropy Congress

Du 15 au 17 avril 2010, des passionnés en informatique et de plusieurs
disciplines ont organisé à l'Université de Rennes 1, la première
édition d'un Congrès sur le thème de la "Créativité et Technologies
Libres".

Le comité organisateur est composé d'entrepreneurs en Informatique
Libre, d'étudiants et d'enseignants-chercheurs en informatique,
sciences humaines et sociale, sciences politiques, arts graphiques et
numériques...etc

Durant ces 3 journées ensoleillées, environ 300 participants
étaient présents, dont plus de 20 personnes qui ont monté ce projet
bénévolement. Cela représente au total 4 mois de préparation et le
soutien de plusieurs associations et partenaires, dont Actux (GUL
Rennais).

La journée de jeudi a accueilli plus de 20 musiciens pour la
représentation de plusieurs concerts à la salle de spectacle du
Diapason.

De vendredi à samedi ce sont plus de 200 visiteurs qui sont venus
participer et rencontrer 25 intervenants européens dans le
domaine de la science, société, fabrication, bidouillage, et culture.
Près de 20 présentations rapides ont fait découvrir des projets locaux
et mettre en réseau avec d'autres groupes de travail.
Plus de 10 ateliers et expositions présentaient : une imprimante 3D et
d'autres bidouillages, des séances de crochetage, des prises de photo
par cerf-volant sur le campus, des réflexions sur l'actualité en
matière de droit d'auteur.

Le public et les animateurs ont particulièrement apprécié
"les deux salles de conférences, l'ambiance dans l'atelier, les
rencontres avec les développeurs pour faire avancer les projets,
l'expérience acquise à monter un tel événement, le soutien de
l'université dans l'organisation de ce Congrès..."

Les médias étaient fidèles au rendez-vous avec plus de 100 sites qui
ont relayé l'annonce de ce Congrès et de nombreux blogs qui en parlent.
Plus de 10 interviews ont été réalisés avant et durant le Congrès pour
présenter la thématique, et inviter le public à venir découvrir
l'évènement.

Ce congrès était aussi l'opportunité d'annoncer le lancement d'un
projet de hackerspace sur Rennes:

Les organisateurs tiennent à remercier les artistes pour leurs 
performances au Diapason, les conférenciers qui ont répondu avec 
enthousiasme à la thématique de ce Congrès et qui sont venus pour 
certains de très loin.
Nos remerciements envers la participation des visiteurs et
l'implication des partenaires, à celles et ceux qui ont relayé les
annonces et qui nous ont aidé tout au long de ce congrès... et avec
déjà des demandes pour une nouvelle édition!

Report from the Breizh Entropy Congress
=======================================

From April 15th to 17th 2010, passionate individuals have organized, at
Université de Rennes 1, the first edition of a congress themed around
creativity and free technology.

The organizing committee is made up of free software entrepreneurs,
students, and professors in computer science, human and social
sciences, political sciences, digital arts, etc.

During these 3 sunny days, about 300 people attended the event,
including more than 20 persons who set up this project on a voluntary
basis. It represents 4 months of preparation and the support of several
non-profit organizations and parters, including Actux (LUG from
Rennes).

Thursday's concert welcomed more than 20 musicians at the Diapason
concert room, for several performances.

From Friday to Saturday, more than 200 people came to participate and
meet 25 European authors in fields of science, society, manufacturing,
hacking, and culture.
About 20 quick presentations enabled the discovery of local projects
and networking with other work groups.
More than 10 workshops and exhibits featured: a 3D printer and other
hacks, lockpicking tools and techniques, aerial photography with
kites, and debates about copyright law.

Audience and authors especially enjoyed "the two conference rooms, the
atmosphere during the workshops, meetings with developers to push
projects forward, the experience acquired by setting up such an event,
and the support of the university..."

Media were also there with more than 100 websites which distributed
the call for proposals and several blogs talking about the congress.
More than 10 interviews have been made before and during the congress
to present the themes, and invite the audience to come and discover
the event.

This congress was also an opportunity for announcing the launch of a
hackerspace project in Rennes:

The organizers wish to thank the artists for their performances at the
Diapason, the speakers who enthusiastically answered our call for
proposals and who sometimes travelled a long way to come.
Our thanks also go to the visitors who participated, to our partners,
to everyone who forwarded the announcements and helped us along the
organization of the congress... of which a second edition is already
asked for!
