Summary: Mac OS X native image loader loads wrong colors

Initial Comment:
The native image loader on OS X loads images with colors that are far off of their desired values. Possible reasons are gamma levels and color profiles. For example, one image, examined with GIMP, shows a pixel to have a 94 blue value. When loaded with the OS X loader, the value is read as 82, while the libpng loader gets the correct value of 94. Images generally look substantially darker. The iPhone native image loader may suffer the same problem, but I have yet to determine that.
