It turns out that the APIs are marked as "obsolete",
not deprecated. An example of one osbolete interface
used in SVN right now http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/IOKit/IOHIDLibObsolete_h/Classes/IOHIDDeviceInterface122/index.html
