Never wanted to try it because it's kind of a gray area. Each
._tx file has it's own header settings, and it would feel like
overridding those, in some way... maybe. You would also kind of
loose the flexibility to link external files with names other than
the current main ._tx file being processed, because the makedoc
reading part is completely unaware of the writer.
The solution should be something which keeps the HTML output as is,
and just improves the output of non HTML formats. The way to handle
this would be to pass makedoc from the commandline a -swallow
parameter for the non HTML outputs. Makedoc would then process
@externalfile as a real @include.
