I would think that it makes most sense to have a global
"init_joytick_driver" function that selects the joystick driver and does
whatever needs to be done to get the joystick(s) ready for use. Then,
call a function like "get_joystick(number)" to retrive a handle for it.
If one tries to access any joystick function without first initializing
the driver, then it should return some failure code.
