No idea. I always thought, DIGMID can only use the format as output by pat2dat, which is a datafile containing a "default.cfg" object. So it would always be datafile#default.cfg. If it supports something else, it should be changed - anyone knows about this?
DIGMID can accept a datafile containing default.cfg and a patchset, or a raw (uncompressed) GUS patchset on disk. Basically, it just treats a datafile as a directory.. if you specify a directory name or datafile it'll search it for default.cfg, or else use the file pointed to as the patchset config. It doesn't need to be in a datafile, though doing so is a nice way to get some compression.
