[AD] sub millisecond interupts in DOS..how?

i would like to get a timer tick  approx 312 microseconds, but the allegro 
timers seem to only go as low as 1 millisecond.
how would i modify the allegro src to obtain  the  32 ticks per 10ms ( 
approx 312 microseconds ) .
i intend to use DJGPP,  and an i386 pc running DOS.

or, anyone got some DOS, DJGPP src code for setting up a timer to tick at 
the rate i need.

any help / advice would be welcome.
