[AD] new datafile object format for images (and a couple other patches )

Is this going to be merged in, and if so, when (from a version
number point of view) ?
(not pushing, just asking :))

(that said, I'll push a bit for two things: sincos, which was
done, but somebody (Eric ?) wanted an extra asm version for non
GCC i386 targets (though there is a generic C version anyway)
and the RLE clip speedup one (Eric wanted the layout changed
match the BITMAP layout (which would be more consistent but
would break some compatibility IIRC)).
