Hello,
yesterday I was using (for the first time in a long while) the
textprintf functions, and noticed that most of them have been replaced
by a text*_ex function, while the old names have been deprecated.
I assume this is done to keep api-compatibility with older versions,
while introducing new functionality. I read api.txt but couldn't find
much about the practice. Are there plans to scrap the _ex names and
move them back to the original names? I see in api.txt that the api
should stay the same across all 4.* versions. In that case, I assume
the _ex names will stay until allegro 5.0?

Unix is user friendly. It's just very particular about who
it's friends are.
