The demo, for example, only runs in GDI mode, and then has serious issues.

The whole viewport is visible at this point, albeit somewhat jerky at times.

I've tried the latest cvs (about 24 hours ago), same result.

Also, I've tried another pre-compiled allegro from another user, and I get
the same results, which is incredibly frustrating :) 
I've been trying to narrow down the reason for it, but I cannot get any
closer.

I'll keep on experimenting and see if I can provide any more information. 

I'll force GDI if win2k is detected if I have to, although this is a bit of
a crappy fix :)
