I use WinMe, and compile allegro in a dos box with gcc version 2.95.3
20010315/djgpp (release)
and this is my mmxtest.s without the change:
-------------
    .text
    emms
    maskmovq %%mm3, %%mm1
-------------
and with the change:
-------------
    .text
    emms
    maskmovq %mm3, %mm1
-------------

without the change gcc reports and error, invalid register %%mm3 and all
compilation skip mmx optimizations.
