Hi All!
Today I downloaded Allegro 3.9.38 and installed it in a GNU/Linux Debian
2.2 (Potato) system. Then I run the demo and nothing works.
As 3.9.33 worked I downloaded some previous versions and here is the
resume:
3.9.33: Sound: OK (esound) Graphics: OK (X windowed)
3.9.35: Sound: OK (esound) Graphics: OK (X windowed)
3.9.36: Sound: OK (esound) Graphics: OK (X full screen!!)
3.9.37: Sound: Nope, it says is in use (/dev/dsp) (direct /dev/dsp access
under X?) Graphics: OK (X full screen!!)
3.9.38: Sound: "Error initialising sound\n/dev/sequencer: No existe tal
dispositivo"
Graphics: when the screen to select the graphics appears the
program hangs, only kill -9 helps. The mouse over the window disapears and
the keyboard is ignored, 100% of CPU is consumed and at leat 3 processes
named demo are reported.
So, for this system Allegro 3.9.36 is a progression but .37 and .38 are
regressions.
In all the cases I tested as a normal user using X 3.3.6. The window
manager is Enlightenment 0.16.3. An application is using esound (0.2.17)
playing music and the Allegro versions that have sound successfuly mixes the
sound. In all the cases the autodetect options were used. To configure the
package I ever first remove the configure file and use autoconf to
regenerate it
