I tested some time ago such a windowed driver: - direct writing to the primary surface (screen), as fast as the overlay one, 6x faster than the current windowed one, - no more dirty rectangles mechanism, therefore need for propagating the paint events, - fits perfectly into a window and movable. Such a driver is particularly well-suited for emulators, which maintain their own dirty rectangles mechanism by using the video memory of the emulated machine. But the problem is always the same: the behaviour with regard of fast moving and overlapping with other windows. I didn't find any satisfying solution so I gave up. I've attached a partial diff file; feel free to do what you want with it. -- Eric Botcazou ebotcazou@xxxxxxxxxx
